01/26/2009 – 4:20

Many users are unfamiliar about the measurements of dispensed cannabis when attempting to purchase.  As a consumer, cannabis is sold in these common masses/weights (US). Prices vary from place to place and from strain to strain.

1 Ounce = 28 Grams

Half (1/2) Ounce = 28 Grams / 2 = 14 Grams

Eighth (1/8) Ounce = 28 / 8 = 3.5 Grams

1 Gram = 1 Gram

1 Pound = 16 Ounces

Dime = A Dime is a term for $10 worth of a strain being purchased.

dimebagA Dime is not a measurement of weight but a price for a small amount that is determined by the seller and is packaged using small, plastic baggies or smaller medicinal containers.

Digital scales are available are your local smoke shop from $20 – $40 .  Usually, dispensaries have scales available for customers’ use to verify the amount/weight of the cannabis being purchased.  Like bongs, scales come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors – and prices.

Common Usage:

These are estimated weights and will changed when you use your paraphernalia.

1 Glass Pipe bowl = .2 – .5 Grams

1 Joint = .5 – 1.0 Grams

Blunt = 1.5 – 2.0 Grams

Bong – .5 – 1.5 Grams

Again, weights and amounts will vary with your paraphernalia preference and tolerance.
